Greetings, I am Greyscale Palette, and I have been hired to observe and write about a fantastical beast, half for thrills, half so I can pay my quarter of the rent.

The Magma Golem, or by their scientific name, Vivus Pallium, are the result of any Lava or Magma rich environments being in close proximity to any intense magic. Common causes to this are warlocks making their base in a volcano or dormant fissures under enchanted woods. The lava golem tends to be a solitary species, wandering the stretch of land or cave that inhabits their territory, which is usually near or at the magma pit they were first created from.

They aggressively protect the area they consider their territory simply by flailing their arms around. Despite not sounding like that effective of a strategy, one has to remember that the Magma Golem only really needs to land just one lucky hit to render any would be opposition a smoldering lump of what can only vaguely be called flesh. And as much as I would warn against trying to contest one's territory, some maniacs actually try to befriend Magma Golems and live within one's territory for added protection. However these people are not just maniacs but maniacs who are magic professionals, I can not stress enough that an average human should never willingly approach a Magma Golem. Do not do what I am doing.

Magma Golems do not communicate via vocals, and they are also not much for writing, as stated when I tried to interview one and they melted and consumed the pen I gave them, which was pretty rude. How they actually communicate with each other is with a series of stomps, bubbles, and knocking the rocks on their body together, thus forming a type of sign language that is still being deciphered to this day. The few ideas I managed to translate were that 3 stomps followed by them assuming a tall stance is an expression of anger. Mainly due to the fact that the instance I was studying did that series of gestures soon before attempting to punch a set of rocks vaguely looking like a training dummy.

To summarize, Magma Golems are an enigmatic species and are hard to study due to their low communication, dangerous environment, and short fuse. While they don't actively seek out violence, you have to take extreme caution whenever you're in an area where Magma Golems are known to wander.

Addendum : By the church it's a wonder I got this information without meeting my demise. If I had half a brain I would sue the fools who set me up for this. However, this was a nice way to keep me on my feet. I wonder if I should do some entity research on my own time…
